What every mother should know about anomaly scans.
By Dr Vivek Krishnan

The 18–22 week anomaly scan is one of the most reassuring — and most misunderstood — moments of pregnancy. This article walks through what we look at, why it takes the time it does, and what to expect afterwards.
What the scan covers
A structural ultrasound is a careful, organised review of the developing baby. We measure growth, look at every major organ system, and document the placenta, cord, and amniotic fluid.
If we find something
Most findings are minor and resolve naturally. Where we do see something that needs follow-up, you'll meet with our fetal medicine specialist the same day to walk through what it means and what comes next.
